Wedding Nails On A Budget

8/21/2018

Recently I have been hearing about this great new product, and before I told the whole wedding world I wanted to test the product myself!
I ran down to Wal-mart and for $8.50 I bought the most simple, affordable, great looking stick on nails!
The product is called ImPress and in my opinion gets two thumbs up on creating a product that is extremely affordable, which is a keyword when shopping for a wedding. Especially when most brides are on a tight budget but still want all the bells and whistles for their big day.
ImPress nails look amazing and lasts longer than a week with no scrapes, in-dents, or breakage. Not only does it come with enough for one usage and extras, but it comes with 30 pieces, so you are able to share and cut down on costs if you have more than one person in your wedding party.
ImPress has created a product that takes no effort at all to have amazing looking nails, you simply clean your nails and give them a quick buff with the provided alcohol wipe, mini file and nail pick. Then match a nail up with each finger and lay them all out in a row remembering to keep the tab towards the back, when ready start with your pinkies and work your way in, peel off the tab and press down for about 30 seconds on each finger to ensure you securely attach the fake nail to your real nail.
Trust me when I say it won’t fall off even though it may feel that way on the first day, but the glue which is already applied to the nail for you is like cement, and yet still easy to peel off with a little work, or simply soak your nails in nail polish remover for a minute or two then peel them off.
When needing to fit everything into a budget the best thing to do is shop around, A regular nail appointment at a salon will cost you about $50, but buying a product like ImPress can help save you about $40 to spend on other much needed areas in your wedding.

A Moment of Weakness

As I was watching Arie’s season on the Bachelor the other day a song came on that caught my attention, I immediately started searching for what it was and who sang it. Turns out it was a song called  “ A Moment of Weakness “ by up and coming artist Tenille Arts.

This song speaks to so many people and so many relationships that I had to share it! There is a particular line in this song that says “I didn't mean to tell you any of my secrets but you caught me in a Moment of Weakness” how many of you found yourself telling people random things that you wouldn't normally tell someone, And yet you kept going and then found yourself talking to that same person days later. How many of you fought the feelings or had a guard up, and yet someone caught you in a Moment of Weakness and that's when you truly began to embrace a love you were meant to have.
I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do the link is above at the beginning of this post :).

2018 Wedding Ring Choices

1/16/2018

       1) Wood Wedding bands
This particular type of wedding band is one of my favorite types that you can choose from, Simply because it is very practical with a low purchase price and is unique to every buyer.

Pros :
  • Each ring has a different pattern!
  • There is a vast variety of woods to choose from, and most wood has a sentimental meaning that could be a huge factor in a love or religious meaning, depending on how you and your partner see the world together.
  • They do not conduct electricity, so if you do happen to work in a field of that nature it is a huge plus not having to take your ring off while at work.
  • This ring is also wonderful if you are allergic to metal, or if you simply need something that is hypoallergenic, if you are vegan, or earth friendly.
Cons :
  • This type of ring does require great care because they are not waterproof!
  • This type of ring also can not be resized once it has been made.

   2) Tattoo Wedding band

This has been an up and coming trend which I think is so wonderful! Not everyone is the same which we are all well aware of, so when it comes to expressing oneself this is a great alternative.
Being able to choose the design and color to really represent who you are, and who you and your partner want to be is meaningful and a great way to solidify a bond.
Tattoo wedding bands are also a lot less expensive than a traditional wedding band, they will never have to be resized and they are safe for any trade job that requires a danger to your hands.

       3) Vintage wedding bands

Vintage wedding bands are the heart of all wedding bands! They are often bought at a jewelry shop whether they are new, or classic, despite what people might think, unless you are fortunate to have acquired a family heirloom.
Depending on how you obtain this remarkable piece of jewelry each one is unique and require different types of care, but there are so many colors, sizes and designs to choose from at a much lower cost; it is no wonder people are reverting back to this type of ring rather than a classic gold or silver band which can be quite expensive at times.

This past summer was a wonderful learning curve in my career, I met so many; amazing, talented, strong, caring individuals who challenged me, coached me, welcomed me in every aspect of all the different life changing weddings I had the pleasure of attending.
Each wedding was unique and different from the next. It was exciting to go from one wedding to the next and to see how each persons personality reflected in how they decided to create and celebrate their special day!
From Beaches, to churches, to fields each wedding poured out the heart of each couple and each individual. I had a great first year in this business and look forward to the new challenges that are to come!
Thank you to all the newly married couples who invited me to share in their big day, and thank you to all the vendors who put up with my ordering and running around, I honestly could not have done it without all of your support and knowledge!

The Island Brides Bridal Expo 2017

3/15/2017

A little over a week ago I attended the Island Brides Bridal Expo, which was my very first Wedding Expo as a vendor. I was so excited, except when I was first asked a week prior to the event there were so many thoughts running through my head I didn't know where to start.
I had one week to design a booth, plan how I was going to market my booth so people would be intrigued to stop and either just look at my booth, or stop and chat for a bit. I have never had the opportunity to run my own booth before, so I had to start at the very begining.
1)   Finding your Focal Point : People are often drawn to the most noticable factor in the center of your space!
I had recently been researching rustic qualities of a wedding, and one of the most eye catching items at a wedding is the way the "cake" area is presented. Cupcakes seem to be the up and coming fashion in this area of a wedding; they are already pre portioned, each one is beautifully presented, and the way you present them prior to being eatten can be done in a multiple of ways. Fortunatly for me my partner is very crafty in the art of carpentry so I put him to work helping me create my cupcake staircase out of logs

Picture
2) Drawing Attention: How to draw people into my booth?
Not every person wants to hire a wedding planner, but for me I want everyone to notice my booth, because every person knows another person, who know other people who may just be looking for a little extra help. Word of mouth is the number one advertisement especially on PEI.
One of the instructions any designer will tell you is to not have a flat surface, different heights, different texture always showcase better than a flat canvas!
Another thing to think about is your colors, it is currently the beginning of March it's very cold and tends to become a bit gloomy, so bright and cheerful colors tend to liven the space as well as peoples moods. I also used simple everyday flowers that I knew have a long life span to maximize the cost, and can be transferred to my home and be used after the show which lasted of one day !

3) Information: Simplicity is key !
Thinking back on attending event conferences, Science fairs, job fairs and any other booth related event I may have gone to, the most unattractive feature in a booth is too much information.
Most people can only retain so much information, they also lose interest if they have to stand there and read everything you have to offer, A lot of the time they look ugly and people tend to walk by without venturing in to see what the booth is all about.
In less than a week to pull together a simple information package, I turned to vista print for all my printing needs; I ended up having business cards and a introductory brochure explaining my 3 packages.
I am my biggest information package, everything I know, everything I can do is better explained in person, and the best way to engage in your clientele is to talk to them and get to know who they are and how you can help.

4) Finishing touches: Follow the instructions of your elementary grade teachers to never leave blank spaces, and always color in the white spots!
I found my focal point, I gathered my information, now to fill in the bare spots. I focused on keeping the rustic image by burlap mason jars filled with flowers, old logs to define my space covered in burlap lace and midnight lanterns, an old bicycle which I filled with a simple candy as a thank you for visiting my booth and taking the opportunity to appreciate the work I have done.

5) The Big Day: Always be punctual, and always be yourself !
Heading down to the Murphy's Community Center in Charlottetown was a struggle, on one of the coldest days of winter where there were snow squalls and white outs I still managed to make it to the event.
This magnificent event was created by two amazingly talented people! Tracy Cash; a wedding decorator who owns the company Once Upon a Wedding, and Kelli Skinner who operates The Bride To be which is a wedding accessory shop . To gather all the different types of vendors that are available across the island is such a great way to decrease the stress that a bride may have when trying to find the different types of products and services that they are looking for.
Picture
Vendors:
I had the opportunity to meet some pretty great people, and learn about multiple new products and services that different individuals offer. listed below are a few of the vendors that I highly recommend.

This lipstick is perfect for every bride; you can create your own color, it's waterproof, kiss proof, and smudge/smear proof. knowing you don't have to re-apply your lipstick every five minutes and still look amazing is one product every bride is searching for.
Lip Sense was represented by Alisha, who is also a fabulas hair stylist you can find her on Facebook or Email her at Alisha@islandlipstyle

One of the most exciting ideas people are incorporating into their wedding is having a photo booth to capture all the guests who have attended your big day.
Laugh It Up photo booth services was represented by Logan who was energetic and ready to really make the best out of every crazy outfit, and to help every couple really enjoy the memories they were about to keep for the rest of their lives! You can visit their website at www.laugitup.ca

Sleeves or No Sleeves?

2/1/2017

Sleeves on a Wedding dress
There are so many great aspects to having sleeves on a wedding dress, and at the same time going sleeveless has its perks as well!
Advantages of long sleeves:
  • Vintage; having a vintage wedding seems to be the theme in todays wedding society. It gives you the option to have a personalized wedding, and having the sleeve added to the dress really gives it a feeling of traveling back in time.
  • Sleeves that are seen all the way to your wrist is a huge advantage, if you are seeking to draw the attention somewhere other than your mid section.
  • Long sleeves also add sophistication and class when the gown is on the less flashy side of things.
  • Long sleeves could also add the extra flashiness to your dress depending on how they are made; lace, sheer fabric and jewels, satin etc.
Advantages of no sleeves:
  • Modern; A sleeveless dress is the most common way to have a wedding dress these days, most weddings happen between the months of may and october where the weather is often warmer.  Having no sleeves gives them the option to not have to worry about being to hot or having sweat stains.
  • Vintage; Although people are still aiming for the vintage type wedding, a lot of people still enjoy the modern day look of a wedding dress with no sleeves.
  • Having a sleeveless dress tends to be a trick of the eye increasing the look of having longer and slimmer arms, therefore making their total image slimmer to the naked eye. This then gives the bride the option of adding anything to their bodice that they would like to include without the chunky look.

Both styles are stunningly beautiful when worn properly of course, but there are always disadvantages!
While I was reading this article I thought I would share it, because it did have some good insight and interesting facts.

Delectable Banquet stations are a great alternative for weddings that provide a cocktail party after the ceremony, or at the reception.
There are many different types of stations you can choose from, but here are a few to help get you thinking.

Champagne and Oysters

Picture
Champagne and oysters are very classy, and give many different looks to a wedding!
- Classy and elegant
- It could be a special native item, specific to the area.
- Romantic especially when combined with chocolate
- It can also add a special touch to a beach themed wedding.

Doughnut Walls

Picture
Doughnut walls or pyramids are all the new rave!
for an eye catching, tasty, and money worthy wedding decor.

Bubbly Bar & Fresh Fruit

Picture
A Bubbly bar with Fresh fruit is always a great way to go, it adds so much to whatever part of the wedding you incorporate it into.
A colorful, eye catching display that is refreshing especially during a summer wedding, and it usually has something for everyone.

Charcuterie

Charcuterie is a fancy word to describe a multiple of different foods; cheese, meat, bread and on occasion jam.
This particular station is usually a favorite, but be cautious of foods that are; messy, give bad breath, or may stick in your teeth.

Candy Heaven

Picture
The candy station is the number one thing to  have at a wedding now.
- the dessert station
- the late night snack area
- the extra special thing at your wedding
The greatest thing about these candy stations are;  everyone has a different variation, each one is unique, and everyone loves them!
